I now realize a relay can be used to simply modify behavior sorry, I'm a little dense lately. The diatribe below is me working through this for me.
Because pins 86 and 85 complete the relay circuit to energize its coil, that's the "trigger" side of the equation. Turning brights on triggers 86 which closes the coil since 85 is always grounded in this mod. This sends 30's power over to 87, which is what keeps the low beams on when high beams get turned on. The relay now re-energizes that factory low beam wire which has just been turned off otherwise. The current draw for low beams is now supplied additionally by whatever's feeding pin The high beam current path doesn't get such an upgrade since that circuit is only used to trigger engage the low beam lights.
The only method I can see that completely relieves the headlight switch and associated wiring from either low or high beam circuit are the ones from LMC, given that the factory wiring is used ONLY to trigger relays for low and high before sending direct battery power to the headlights No such claim is made! You can thank me later. This drop in circuit board, really helps, in keeping a higher level of light on the road. Install was easy. I just took a picture on My phone of the fuse box. To make sure that the fuses and relays, I needed to remove, to put this board into position. Would be able to be replaced into their appropriate spaces. I used it this weekend with My Chevy Avalanche, on a dark unlit forest highway, with lots of curves. And was really pleased with the level of Safe Lighting.
That it provided. Awesome product. This modification couldn't have been any easier, installation was a snap! This mod. I plan to use the Fleece board's convenient add on connection tab and one diode to also have my DRLs come on with the high beams. This would be considered an 8HI setup with only using 1 add on diode and the Fleece board. Very clean setup.Forums New posts Search forums.
