EastEnders has revealed who dies as a death hits the Square, weeks on from funeral pictures that left viewers fearing the worst.
Jay Brown, Ben Mitchell, Lola Pearce and Billy Mitchell were all pictured on location filming a funeral, while no further details were confirmed. Fans began to speculate who might die on the Square amid claims it would have an impact on those involved - and now BBC soap spoilers have confirmed the identity of the victim, and their link to Jay Brown.
It's now been revealed that villain Terry Bates, the man who orchestrated the death of Jay's father Jase Dyer, is the person who dies, leaving Jay rattled as he's expected to plan the funeral service at the undertakers he works at with Callum Highway. Viewers may remember that Jase worked for Terry before turning his life around, and the gangster didn't take too kindly to Jase turning his back on him. When Jase started stealing money from him inTerry set him up before kidnapping Jay at the flat - this led to a violent showdown which saw Terry's men beat Jase up and he later died from his injuries.
Over a decade on, and Jay is left mortified when the man responsible for his dad's murder is back in his life. He and Callum are initially stunned to learn the huge scale of the funeral they've been asked to do, before they realise who it's for. Jay erupts and as he struggles to contain his emotions due to the level of hatred he has for Terry, Callum seeks help from boyfriend Ben, Jay's best mate.
Lola does her best to comfort Jay, leading to an emotional heart-to-heart with Billy who took him in after Jase's death. Billy always blamed himself as he was there when the showdown happened, and managed to save Jay before hiding in the bathroom as Jase was attacked. A recent trailer saw Jay determined to see everyone find out the kind of man Terry was, wanting revenge for his father.

If Bex's exit coinciding with the boat party isn't enough to convince fans, Monday night's episode did the trick as Bex was seen taking drugs during the boat party. One fan tweeted: "Something will happen to Bex.
She says in an episode previous she will take the drugs on the boat party and I think she could drown of fall in the river. She looked unsteady in Monday's episode when Stuart spoke to her". EastEnders marks its 35th anniversary in February with the death of a major character as a river boat party descends into disaster. This unmissable week is destined to be exciting, gripping and heartbreaking — and will go down in EastEnders history. Drama-magnet Sharon probably would. Sharon and Kathy have been there since day one, but only Ian has never left.
Again, Ian is another soap favourite who is almost Mr. EastEnders himself — will this save him from an icy bath though? With actor Danny not revealing any immediate plans to return to the soap, a shock — and quick — return before his death could be a good way to write out the two-timing character.
But could Ben survive another lover meeting their maker following the murder of Paul Coker a few years back? Sliding ever-more into self-loathing at becoming a violent criminal, Martin might commit one last act of redemptive heroism if he tries to save someone from drowning on the boat for instanceonly to end up sacrificing himself. Killing him off on the 35th anniversary would bring him full circle, as the first ever episode of EastEnders saw mum Pauline Fowler announce she was pregnant with her youngest son.
It would be ultra-tragic if Chan dies, leaving two little kids without a mum, but would certainly be a way of punishing her horrid husband…. The entire community — and the nation — would be rocked if dear old Dorothy was to die during such a big milestone. Wednesday, 15th January at am.

EastEnders fans are desperate to know who dies, ahead of a shock death on Friday - amid the 35th anniversary boat tragedy.
Several characters are left fighting for their lives when an incident unfolds on a party boat on the River Thames. The BBC soap has aired three episodes from the big event so far, with just the main one to go. The previous three have aired the events of that day from different perspectives. The Mitchells and Keanu Taylor were the latest to share their movements on that day, with it confirmed they caused the crash.
Little snippets have teased the fallout and the lead-up, from characters struggling and trapped in the water, to people acting suspiciously. With gun shots, collapses and other danger leaving lives on the line, here's all the clues so far as to which character will be killed off.
Soap boss Kate Oates likened the death to a "Greek tragedy", while Jon Sen also confessed there was only ever one character in the frame to die. Speaking at a recent press day for the milestone episodes, Kate said: "There is something almost like a tragedy about this particular person who dies and it could be argued that it's been set up for some time.
It is like a Greek tragedy. Jon commented: "In retrospect you'll see that there is only ever one candidate really who can generate the story we wanted to tell going forward for months and months. Another shared a definition that read: "Greek tragedy plays usually centre around a character who is brought to total destruction or ruin which is usually caused by their own actions. He's been behind the online abuse and Islamophobia aimed at Bobby Beale, leading to an attack on him. In Tuesday's tense episode, Bobby's dad Ian locked him in a room on the boat before disaster struck. He raced to save him as the lower deck began to fill with water, with Dennis begging for help - only for Ian to shockingly consider leaving him to die.
There's also been little hints like mum Sharon constantly referencing them being a happy family, once her unborn baby is born. They had a sweet heart-to-heart recently too - not to mention Dennis leaving Sharon a voice note that was never delivered, and the fact that little comments here and there about him and from him may be foreshadowing a tragic death.
Later scenes of Dennis refusing to leave with his mum and Keanu also convinced fans he might die. Callum wasn't on the boat or the dock at the time of the crash, as he was kidnapped prior to the incident by Keanu Taylor. But fans believing this meant he couldn't be the shock death are now worrying a twist will feature in the big episode, after he was left fighting for his life. Shirley Carter headed to his whereabouts to rescue him, but wrongly believed he wasn't there when she couldn't find him.
Mick and Linda Carter were trapped on the boat on Monday night, with fans fearing they would drown. Alcoholic Linda was trying to reach a bottle from the boat kitchen, when an incident led to her falling while getting her foot caught in a metal table. Despite their row and plans for a divorce, Mick raced to find her and they realised they still loved each other.
Mick struggled to free her, and refused to leave her as they both fought for their lives trapped on the now sinking boat which was filling with water.
